I once rode a carnival ride that spun around extremely fast. I laughed as I felt the wind in my face and my body pull with each turn. As my hands were raised above my head I looked up at them. They appeared as silhouettes with the carnival lights behind them. I was in awe as I felt the contrast of my body moving fast, while watching the lights moving slowly.
I seek to craft experiences that employ this subtle contrast in physicality. I am drawn to materials that embody these momentary signs of life and evoke a sensory response. I use various materials to explore questions and construct symbolism. How can I capture a state of of wonder? Where does the barrier of my reality begin and how can I hold onto momentary time?
